What’s on the Ballot?
Mayor
The Mayor of San Antonio works closely with City Council to pass laws and create policies for the City, as well as the City Manager, who serves as the City’s chief administrator. While City Council members are elected by district, the Mayor represents all of San Antonio (for a two-year term, with a four-term limit). Candidates appear here in order of appearance on the ballot, which is done by drawing. Photos, social media channels, and websites are created and maintained by candidates, and not all candidates may have this information. All information shared is public information.

City Council Member
The City of San Antonio is divided into 10 districts, and each district elects one representative to City Council (for a two-year term, with a four-term limit). Together, City Council creates policies and passes laws on city services, capital improvement projects, land use and development, economic development, and other City issues. Proposition A
Voters in the San Antonio City limits will also see a charter amendment on the ballot. This seeks to amend the City Charter of San Antonio to adopt a policy that ends enforcement of low-level marijuana possession; ends enforcement of abortion crimes; bans chokeholds in policing; bans no-knock warrants; encourages citations instead of arrests for low-level nonviolent crimes; and establishes a Justice Director position to implement and oversee the policy. This proposed amendment asks for a “yes” or “no” vote. Learn more about Proposition A.
School Board
Each San Antonio school district is governed by a school board made up of elected district residents. These board members – or trustees – create policies for the school district, adopt annual budgets and set tax rates, report district progress to the public, and more.
School districts are further divided by districts (or positions or places), and residents vote for a representative from their district. School districts overlap into several City Council districts. Find out what district you live in. (Note: School districts host elections at different times, so not all are represented below.)
